Beginner I Ballet
My daughter, Anna, wanted to take Ballet this year so I signed her up at the Conservatory Ballet in Reston, a town in Fairfax, Virginia in the Washington DC area. I got a chance to take her to class today and watch. What fun :-)
The teacher even let me snap a few pictures of the class. Below is one of the girls in the class (not Anna).

Thats a lovely photo. You have a real eye for kids.
Beautiful photo.
I direct a children’s dance company in the UK, though I am presently working on theatre/arms reduction projects in Haiti.
I’ve taken a lot of dance/young people’s photos myself. I was in Russia and had the chance to photograph a tragic case of a child having a fit in a 1 on 1 psychiatric dance class. Awful but utterly powerful imagery. No film. Never forgot it.
Hi Carl
I love your images of your daughters dance class. I am a physiotherapist who works a lot with dancers and produce training resourses to help reduce the incidence of injuries in young dancers. I was wondering whether I could use this image in one of my training manuals for distribution to teachers. I can forward you a free copy for your daughters teacher when it is complete if you like :)
Kind regards,

Unfortunately I do not have any commercial rights to the images. I was granted permission to shoot my daughter’s class strictly for “family use” and not for commercial purposes. Even if I could provide the image (if I got permission of the studio for this request), I would have to get waivers/consent from any student you wanted to use. They are not all pictures of my daughter so I can not grant consent for all of them.
wow you have an eye for children.what a lovly photo.
hi!
i have just started ballet and i have gone to 2 classes. i think that your photo looked great. i just wish i could do ballet easily. but then again, all things come with practice- or so my mum says anyway.
Cool. Thanks “Georgie Peorgie”. I appreciate your comment and wish the best with your ballet practice!
